This Privacy Policy explains in detail how your data is collected, processed, stored, and protected when you use the Truebyte mobile application (“App”) and the Truebyte App Clip (“App Clip”).

By using our services, you are deemed to have accepted the practices described in this policy. This policy applies solely to data related to the use of the App and App Clip.

For the operation and improvement of the App, the following data types may be processed in a limited and proportionate manner:

2.1. Location Data

  • What is collected: Your geographic location (latitude and longitude).
  • Purpose: To display nearby restaurants, cafés, and points of interest (POIs) via augmented reality or map interfaces.
  • Collection Method: Collected only if you grant permission through your device’s operating system by selecting “Allow While Using the App.”
  • Storage: Location data is not permanently stored on our servers or retained as history. It is processed locally on your device for real-time distance calculations and content delivery.

2.2. Device and Technical Information

  • What is collected: Device brand/model, operating system version (iOS version), anonymized unique device identifiers (UUID), IP address, language preferences, and network connection type.
  • Purpose: To ensure compatibility, resolve technical issues, and manage updates.

2.3. Usage and Interaction Data

  • What is collected: Pages viewed, buttons clicked, session duration, frequency of feature usage, and error/crash logs.
  • Purpose: To analyze user experience, identify popular features, and improve application performance.

Important Note: Unless explicitly requested, we do not collect data that directly identifies you, such as your name, national ID number, home address, or payment information.

3. Purposes of Data Use

Collected data is used solely for the following legitimate purposes:

  1. Service Delivery: Listing nearby venues and enabling location-based features.
  2. Service Improvement & R&D: Identifying issues, improving performance, and developing new features.
  3. Security: Preventing unauthorized access and misuse.
  4. Legal Obligations: Complying with applicable laws and responding to lawful requests from authorities.

Your data is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.

4. Third-Party Services Used

To provide our services, we work with trusted infrastructure providers who process data solely on our behalf:

  • Google Firebase (USA)
    • Analytics: Anonymous analysis of user behavior
    • Crashlytics: Error and crash reporting
    • Firestore / Storage: Storage and delivery of business data and images
  • Apple Maps & MapKit (USA)
    • Used to provide map displays and location-based services.

5. Data Security and Retention

  • Security Measures: Data is protected using SSL/TLS encryption during transmission. Server-side data is safeguarded with industry-standard firewalls and access controls.
  • Retention Period: Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary for processing purposes or as required by applicable laws. Temporary data related to App Clip usage is automatically deleted when the session ends or after the duration defined by iOS.

6. User Rights and Control

As a user, you have the right to:

  • Manage Permissions: Disable location access at any time via device settings.
  • Request Data Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data collected via the App.
  • Access Information: Request information about which data is processed.

7. App Clip Specific Provisions

Truebyte App Clip allows limited use of certain features without downloading the full App.

  • Processes only the minimum data necessary to complete the task
  • Notifications (8-Hour Rule): After interacting with a venue via App Clip, you may receive temporary notifications (for up to approximately 8 hours) related to the experience. Notifications end once the App Clip expires or is removed.
  • Does not perform background location tracking
  • Does not share data with other apps for advertising or tracking purposes

TERMS OF SERVICE

1. Subject and Parties

These Terms of Service (“Agreement”) govern the legal relationship between Truebyte (“Company”) and users (“User”) who access or use the Truebyte mobile application or App Clip. By using the service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms.

2. License Grant

Truebyte grants the User a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial, and informational purposes only. This license does not grant access to the source code or ownership rights.

3. User Obligations

The User agrees to:

  1. Comply with all applicable laws
  2. Not engage in activities that disrupt or damage the system
  3. Not copy, scrape, or misuse content or data
  4. Respect the privacy and rights of others

4. Service Scope and Changes

  • Truebyte is a platform that enables users to discover nearby venues.
  • The Company reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time without prior notice.

5. Disclaimer

THE APP AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” Truebyte does not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free service
  • Complete accuracy or timeliness of venue information
  • Fitness for a particular purpose

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Truebyte shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages, including loss of profit, data, or reputation, arising from use or inability to use the service. Location-based services should not be relied upon as absolute accuracy.

7. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights related to the App, brand, logo, software, interfaces, and databases belong exclusively to Truebyte. This Agreement does not grant any ownership rights to the User.

8. Amendments

Truebyte may update these terms at any time. Updates become effective upon publication within the App. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
